Bio:
dealing in equal parts visceral punk, splintering math rock and kinetic pop, middlesbrough (uk) four-piece dartz certainly make for an intriguing listen. it’s not often that words like “discordant” and “melodic” are thrown about in the same sentence, but the band’s willingness to let loose with raucous dance-punk abandon while delving into more adventurous, angular soundscapes – all without losing sight of each song’s irresistible hook and propulsive beat – makes for a cohesive and addictively explosive good time. they’ve received more than their fair share of critical acclaim from the likes of nme, kerrang! and alternative press – as well as airplay on bbc radio 1, xfm and mtv2 – and they’ve also toured all over europe, sharing stages with a plethora of eclectic talent such as the futureheads, melt banana, the young knives, russian circles, get cape wear cape fly, 65 days of static and the blood brothers along the way. with a strong independent spirit and diy ethic, dartz have been one of the leading lights in the uk’s thriving underground music scene for almost 4 years now… despite still having an average age of just 21.
